3 Christmas gift ideas that do good
It is that time of year where we start to think of gifts for family and friends. Gift giving is a wonderful tradition and one that we can give even more meaning to if the gift we give actually gives to others too!
With that in mind I have curated three of my favourite organisations that are not for profit or social enterprises that you can buy from this Christmas.ย
The Happy Boxes Project
Adapt Drinks proudly supportsย The Happy Boxes Project on a regular basis. It is a small contribution at the moment which I hope to grow as the business grows - you can become a regular supporter too! Check out how here.
The Happy Boxes Project aim to:
-
Support the empowerment of women through alleviating the barriers of accessing basic needs,
-
Provide opportunities for women to build capacity for individual and community development; and
-
Provide opportunities for women to share story and create connection to nurture positive mental health.
You can purchase one of their gorgeous tote bags here and when you do, The Happy Boxes Project sends the exact same tote to one of the womenย they support in remote locations, except theirs arrives filled with all the essentials they may otherwise go without!
Mettleย Women Inc
I have been lucky enough to receive a beautiful Mettle Gift box and have also given a number of them as presents.ย Mettle Women Inc. (Mettle) is a national gift delivery service employing women who are experiencing homelessness due to domestic and family violence.ย They help equip survivors of domestic and family violence with the skills, confidence, and financial security required to secure and maintain employment and in turn, safe and stable housing.
Mettle has a range of different gift boxes but I think this Big Love Gift Box would make a perfect Christmas present.
ย Sisterworks
Sisterworksย is a not-for-profit social enterprise, based in Melbourne. Through work and entrepreneurship,ย their mission is to support women who are refugees, asylum seekers or migrants to improve their confidence, mental well-being, sense of belonging and economic outlook.ย
Sisterworks has a fantastic online shop which sells ethically made homewares, locally made food, jewellery and more. That is where you can find this super cute hand printed tea towel with the Melbourne cityscape on it. It also comesย in five other city skylines.
