Love Lessons from the "Masters of Relationships" - The Happiness Lab with Dr. Laurie Santos

the happiness lab podcast women relationships

I really enjoy The Happiness Lab podcast. It isn't a podcast that makes life out to be all sunshine and rainbows but looks realistically at life and gives you practical tips on how you can navigate it a positive way.

In this episode Dr Santos interviews the married researchers, Dr John Gottman and Dr Julie Schwartz Gottman and they share their experiences working with couples and the lessons they have learnt from watching couples interact. They give tips on how to work your way through issues so that the stresses and strains of life don't destroy our intimate partnerships. Listen here.

Creatine for Women - Fuel Your Strength

Fuel your strength podcast creatine for women

I had been thinking about taking Creatine for a while. We have plenty of it in the house as our sons take it daily. Creatine Monohydrate is one of the most well-researched supplements showing that it does have a positive impact for those trying to gain strength. But as you will find out in this episode Creatine is not just for gym bros. My n=1 experiment has found it to be be beneficial congitively - could this be a placebo affect? Possibly but I will take that anyway! Listen here.

From Frazzled to Serene; The Courageous Story Behind Adapt Drinks with Nicole Avery - Bounce Out of Bed

Bounce out of bed podcast - women

A little self promotion here but Amanda is a great host who I have had the pleasure of meeting in person a number of times and we chat about the creation of Adapt Drinks, what gets me out of bed in the mornings and keeping focused on my tasks. Listen here.

What To Do When You Feel Like You Don't Have Enough Time - Wise Effort

wise effort podcast - time

Dr. Diana Hill is a clinical psychologist and expert in acceptance based therapy. This is a short podcast (14 minutes) but it has a very refreshing approach to how we think about our time. She shares how science shows how giving away time makes you feel like you have more time and cognitive biases getting in the way of you using your time wisely. Listen here.

Why millennials dread motherhood - Today, Explained

today explained podcast motherhood

With our youngest child now 15, contemplating the idea of motherhood is a past distant memory for me, so I found this podcast super interesting. In the podcast they discuss how American policy failures and bad PR have made millennials dread motherhood. I don't know but I imagine this feeling of dread may not be as bad in Australia due to better structural support with maternity leave and childcare but the cost of living crisis and the housing affordability issues would definitely be a worry for women thinking about motherhood. Listen here.

Dr Louise Newson - Maybe it’s Menopause - The Imperfects

the imperfects podcast menopause

In this podcast we go from one end of the female cycle to the other - menopause! And this podcast is interesting because it is two young men that interview Dr Louise Newson, a GP and Menopause specialist who is campaigning for better menopause care for all women. They are genuinely interested in the topic and Louise is direct in sharing not only experiences of her clients but also her own - including how even her husbands's breathing at times drove her crazy during perimenopause! Listen here.

Happy listening!
